Fairytale elements in selected stories from the Priče iz davnine collection by Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić

Priče iz davnine by Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić (1874-1938) is a collection of stories for children published in 1916. In her stories the author shows humans and Slavic mythologies heroes living together in harmony. The aim of my thesis was to present the fairytale elements in selected stories by Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić. I also provided historical and cultural background of the period, short biography of the author, most important characteristics of a fairytale and their influence on young reader.

Priče iz davnine Ivany Brlić-Mažuranić (1874 – 1938) to zbiór utworów dla dzieci wydany w 1916. Autorka w swoich dziełach przedstawiła ludzi i bohaterów słowiańskich mitologii, żyjących w harmonii obok siebie. Celem mojej pracy było zaprezentowanie elementów baśniowych w wybranych utworach Ivany Brlić-Mažuranić. Nakreśliłam również tło historyczne i kulturalne epoki, krótki życiorys pisarki, najważniejsze cechy baśni oraz ich wpływ na młodego czytelnika.
