Contemporary foreign policy of the European Union and the United States. Comparison of selected cases.

The aim of my paper was to present the subject of foreign policy of two entities that take part in international relations: the European Union and the United States. After the Cold War, these two powers are considered to be strategic actors in global politics that have important international roles, such as economic, political, cultural and in the area of security. Especially the last one became more intensive after the terrorist attacks on the 11th of September 2001. As a result I compared the foreign policy of the European Union and the United States and tried to show in what respects it is similar and different.

Celem mojej pracy było przybliżenie tematyki polityki zagranicznej dwóch podmiotów stosunków międzynarodowych: Unii Europejskiej i Stanów Zjednoczonych. Po zakończeniu zimnej wojny można stwierdzić, iż są to dwa mocarstwa, które są strategicznymi aktorami polityki globalnej, odgrywającymi istotne role międzynarodowe. Wyznaczyć można szereg ról, które odznaczają się widoczną intensywnością: ekonomiczne, polityczne, kulturowe czy w zakresie bezpieczeństwa. Te ostatnie w szczególności nabrały dynamiki na początku XXI wieku, a mianowicie po atakach terrorystycznych 11 września 2001 roku.W rezultacie porównałam politykę zagraniczną Unii Europejskiej i Stanów Zjednoczonych i postarałam się ukazać w jakich aspektach jest ona podobna, a w jakich różna.
