TARANTYZM: MIĘDZY DRAMATEM SPOŁECZNYM A TEATREM

The aim of the thesis is look at the tarantism, peculiar cultural phenomenon from Apulia in Southern Italy. In the first part of the work I analysed the history from antique to modern times of Salento, from perspective of Victor Turner's Social Drama. In the next chapter entitled: 'Dance with spider. The Tarantism and Femininity', I focused on sexual determinism and historically specific beliefs about the presence of women in the rite from Apulia. The main parts of the work are chapters describing performative side of tarantism, I used the methodology of performativity described by Richard Schechner. I survey the phenomenon as living cultural performance, which at present is part of music festival called La Notte della Taranta.

Celem pracy jest przyjrzenie się tarantyzmowi - specyficznemu zjawisku kulturowemu wywodzącemu się z Apulii na południu Włoch. W pierwszej część mojej pracy analizuję historię Półwyspu Salentyńskiego od antyku do czasów współczesnych z perspektywy teorii dramatu Victora Turnera. W następnym rozdziale zatytułowanym "Tańczące z pająkiem. Tarantyzm a kobiecość" skupiam się na płciowym determinizmie i historycznych przekonaniach w związku z obecnością kobiet w apulijskim rycie. Zasadnicze części pracy opisują performatywną stronę tarantyzmu, w których posilam się metodologią Richarda Schechnera. Badam ten fenomen jako kulturowo żywe widowisko, które aktualnie jest częścią festiwalu w Lecce o nazwie La Notte della Taranta.
