Between system and the individual. Constructivist literary theory toward a problem of interpretation

Celem niniejszej pracy było zbadanie na ile proponowany przez konstruktywistów teoretyczny model systemu literackiego przystaje do szeroko rozumianego dyskursu naukowego o literaturze. W pierwszej części pracy konstruktywistyczna teoria literatury zostaje przeanalizowana i poddana krytyce. Szczególną uwagę poświęca się teorii systemów Niklasa Luhmanna i wynikającej z niej komunikacyjnej wizji sztuki i literatury oraz konstruktywistycznemu modelowi nauki o literaturze Siegfrieda J. Schmidta. W drugiej części pracy konstruktywistyczny model nauki o literaturze zostaje skonfrontowany z problematyką interpretacji w ujęciu Jacquesa Derridy. Następnie, na podstawie ogólnego modelu relacji pomiędzy systemem a jednostką, zostaje przedstawiona propozycja uwzględnienia w ramach modelu konstruktywistycznego interpretacji, jako zjawiska fundamentalnego dla systemu literackiego we współczesnej postaci. Za konsekwencje uwzględnienia roli interpretacji zostaje natomiast uznana pełna akceptacja wysoce heterogenicznej budowy systemu literackiego i konieczności jego powiązania z kwestiami natury etycznej i komunikacyjnej.

The purpose of this study was to investigate to what extent the constructivist theoretical model of literary system is congruent with the scientific discourse about literature . In the first part of this study constructivist theory of literature is examined and criticized . Particular attention is paid to Niklas Luhmann's theory of the systems and the communicative vision of art and literature in Siegfried J. Schmidt's constructivist model of scientific literary study. In the second part of this study the constructivist model of literature is confronted with the problems of interpretation in terms of Jacques Derrida . Then, based on the general model of the relationship between the system and the individual, interpretation is considered as a fundamental phenomenon of the literary system in its modern form. Author argues that interpretation has to be included into the constructivist model of literary system. The main consequence of considering the fundamental role of interpretation is acceptance of highly heterogeneous system of literary discourse and the necessity of its connections with ethical issues and communication.
