The role of American corporations in the global economy
The purpose of this study was an analysis of the position that American corporations have gained in the global economy, and an assessment of the influence they can exert on the formation of political systems and legislation processes, thanks to appropriate allocation of their financial resources. A lot of attention was directed to corporate scandals and selected controversial aspects related to corporate operations. Theoretical considerations have been exemplified by a case study – based on the Enron scandal, a company that once dominated the energy industry, the author described the factors that led to the company’s ultimate collapse, and the consequences this bankruptcy provoked. The study is based on academic literature, Internet sources and statistical data.
