The problem with thelema classification as religion - an attempt to solve this issue in accordance with selected definitions within the field of religious studies, relying on research conducted among particular online communities

Celem pracy jest przybliżenie zjawiska thelemy w trzech głównych kategoriach religioznawczych (kult, doktryna, organizacja) a następnie próba rozpatrzenia kwestii jej klasyfikacji jako religii.Czyni się to poprzez badania przeprowadzone na dwóch grupach – społecznościach internetowych funkcjonujących pod postacią forum w ramach portali tematycznych, w oparciu o pytania badawcze skonstruowana na podstawie dwóch wybranych popularnych w religioznawstwie definicji religii (holistycznej oraz relacjonistycznej).Oprócz w. w. praca skrótowo rozpatruje problematykę tworzenia oraz operowania definicjami religii w religioznawstwie.

The main goal of this dissertation is to familiarize the reader with Thelema phenomenon in 3 main fields of religious studies (cult, doctrine and organisation) and it attempts to consider it as a religion.It is done by researches conducted in two groups among internet communities functioning as forums in regards to thematic groups. Also it is made in accordance with research questions constructed on the basis of two popular definitions of religion (holistic and rational) within the field of religious studies.Besides what was mentioned above, this work deliberates briefly on the issue of constructing definitions of religion and working with them within the area of religious studies.
