Basin analysis of lower paleozoic in the area of North-Eastern Poland

The study concerns the Lower Paleozoic deposits of Peribaltic Syneclise analysed in terms of struktural eolution of North-Eastern Poland basin. Research included facies analysis, construction of lithological, lithostratigraphical and stratigraphical cross-sections and paleotopography and sea-level changes analyses. The result of research is characterisation of basin development which was influenced greatly by syndepositional block tectonics related to the proximity of Teisseyre-Tornquist tectonic zone. Discussed area was undergoing strike-slip movements with different intensity throughout early Palaeozic times. This in turn, caused a permanenet dislocations of subsidence and depocenter centre during the studied interval. The aforementioned processes resulted in deep, syndepositional and postdepositional tectonic faults, sediments thickness changes and differences in succession trends between the eastern and western parts of the syneclise.

Przeprowadzono analizę rozwoju basenu Polski północno-wschodniej na podstawie utworów dolnego paleozoiku syneklizy perybałtyckiej. Badania obejmowały analizę facjalną, konstrukcję przekrojów litologicznych, litostratygraficznych i stratygraficznych oraz analizę ewolucji paleotopografii terenu i zmian poziomu morza. Wynikiem badań jest charakterystyka rozwoju basenu, na który największy wpływ miała syndepozycyjna tektonika blokowa związana z bliskością strefy tektonicznej Teisseyra-Tornquista. Obszar w swojej historii geologicznej podlegał ruchom przesuwczym o różnej intensywności, które powodowały przemieszczanie się centrum subsydencji w trakcie formowania się osadów dolnego paleozoiku. Efektem są głębokie, syn- i postdepozycyjne uskoki tektoniczne, zmiany miąższości w obrębie jednorodnych osadów oraz różnice w trendach sukcesji facjalnych między wschodnią i zachodnią częścią syneklizy.
