Przewlekła niewydolność nerek to problem medyczny i społeczny XXI wieku. Liczba osób chorych wymagających leczenia nerkozastępczego ciągle wzrasta. Chorzy ze schyłkową niewydolnością nerek poddawani są terapii nerkozastępczej. Procedura leczenia niesie za sobą zmianę stylu życia pacjenta oraz posiadanie dużej wiedzy na temat jednostki chorobowej jak również sposobów jej leczenia. Celem pracy było przedstawienie roli pielęgniarki w czasie trwania zabiegu w oparciu o cztery funkcje zawodowe pielęgniarstwa wg WHO. Świadczenie opieki zdrowotnej oraz edukacja pacjenta to funkcje pielęgniarstwa które możemy uznać jako najważniejsze w opiece nad chorym hemodializowanym. Istotnymi funkcjami w opiece jest także realizowanie roli członka zespołu opieki zdrowotnej w ramach działań na rzecz rozwoju praktyki pielęgniarskiej. Metodą wykorzystaną w pracy była analiza piśmiennictwa w oparciu o artykuły i teksty naukowe. Pielęgniarka odgrywa bardzo dużą rolę w opiece nad pacjentem hemodializowanym. Przeprowadza zabieg hemodializy towarzysząc choremu przez cały czas jego trwania. Udziela wsparcia informacyjnego, dietetycznego, psychologicznego które wpływają na poprawę jakości życia.

Chronic renal failure is a medical and social problem of XXI century. The number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is continuously increasing. Patients with end-stage renal failure are undergoing renal replacement therapy. The procedure for treatment entails a change in patient's lifestyle and requires having a great knowledge of the disease as well as ways of its treatment. The aim of the study was to present the role of the nurse during the surgery based on the four functions of professional nursing by the WHO. Provision of healthcare and patient education are the functions of nursing which can be considered as the most important in the care of hemodialysis patients. Essential functions in treatment are also a realization of a healthcare team member's role as part of the development of nursing practice. The method used in this study was the analysis of the literature on the basis of articles and academic texts. The nurse plays a very large role in the care of hemodialysis patient. Performs hemodialysis treatment and accompanies the patient throughout its duration. Provides information support, dietary, psychological, which improves the quality of life.
