Contemporary Chinese Fashion

The purpose of this work is to portray the unique character and huge diversity of contemporary chinese Fashion. The most important factors influencing its development are described: first chinese reflections upon western clothing, the progress of fashion discourse under maoism, and the determinants of the post-maoist period affecting the contemporary Fashion. The development of chinese Fashion is portrayed through descriptions of the representatives of the subsequent generations of chinese designers, with a particular focus on the socioeconomic and cultural contextes of their work.

Celem pracy jest zobrazowanie unikalnej specyfiki i dużej różnorodności współczesnej Mody chińskiej. Opisane zostają najważniejsze czynniki historyczne oddziaływające na jej rozwój: pierwsze chińskie refleksje na temat zachodniego ubioru, rozwój dyskursu modowego w czasach maoizmu, oraz wpływające na kontekst Mody współczesnej uwarunkowania okresu pomaoistowskiego. Rozwój chińskiej Mody zostaje przedstawiony poprzez opisanie przedstawicieli kolejnych pokoleń chińskich projektantów, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem socjoekonomiczych i kulturowych kontekstów ich działalności.
