Image of Muslim women as an example of selected films European cinema of XXI century.

Niniejsza praca stanowi próbę analizy wizerunku kobiet muzułmańskich w wybranych filmach europejskich w XXI wieku. Zawiera teoretyczne refleksje na temat kobiet muzułmańskich w krajach islamu. Przybliżone zostały podstawowe pojęcia dotyczące muzułmanek, ich miejsca w kulturze arabskiej oraz historia obecności wyznawców islamu na kontynencie europejskim. Opisano w niej zasadnicze kwestie i problemy związane z kobietami z kręgu islamu, mieszkającymi na Zachodzie. Omówiono też zagadnienia związane z kategorią „swój-obcy” oraz pojęciem stereotypu w kulturze. Przedstawione zostały również relacje świata Zachodu i świata islamu oraz to, w jaki sposób muzułmanie postrzegani są w mediach w Europie. W ostatniej części przeanalizowana została wybrana grupa filmów europejskich powstałych w XXI wieku. Wyodrębnione zostały trzy najczęściej pojawiające się stereotypy dotyczące kobiet muzułmańskich, w tym: zniewolona i podporządkowana; idealna żona, matka i córka, a także pozbawiona tożsamości.

This study is an attempt to analyze the image of Muslim women selected in European films produced in the XXI century. Is included theoretical reflections about Muslim women in Islamic countries. Are approximated basic concepts of Muslim women and their place in Arabic culture and the history of the presence of Muslims in Europe. Study is described the major issues and problems associated with women from the Islam circle, who are living in the West. Also is discussed issues related to „Own-strange” and the concept of stereotype in culture. It is shown the relationships of the Western world and the Islam world and is how Muslims are perceived in media in Europe. In the last part of study was analyzed selected group of European films arising in the twenty-first century. Were separated three the most frequent stereotypes of Muslim women, like: enslaved and subordinated; the perfect wife, mother and daughter, as well as devoid of identity.
