The Jewish community in Olkusz in the interwar period (1918-1939)

Tematem mojej pracy stała się społeczność żydowska w Olkuszu w latach dwudziestolecia międzywojennego (1918-1939). Pierwszy rozdział bada strukturę demograficzną tej mniejszości. W rozdziale drugim starałam się przedstawić wszystkie aspekty działalności politycznej olkuskich Żydów, przede wszystkim ich udział w wyborach do Rady Miejskiej. Rozdział trzeci poświęcony został szeroko pojętej aktywności gospodarczej, a czwarty opisuje jak układało się życie społeczno-kulturalne. Ostatni, piąty rozdział traktuje o wzajemnych relacjach jakie wykształciły się między mieszkańcami wyznania mojżeszowego a rzymskokatolickiego.

The theme of my work has become the Jewish community in Olkusz in the interwar period (1918-1939). The first chapter examines the demographic structure of the minority. In the second chapter I have tried to present all aspects of political activity about Olkusz Jews, especially their participation in the elections to the City Council. The third chapter was devoted to wide economic activity, and the fourth describes howlife the socio-cultural was like. Last, the fifth chapter deals with the mutual relations which have developed between residents of the Jewish faith and the Roman Catholic.
