The Image of the New Jew - Hebrew Based on the Novel "Ha-Neft zorem le-Yam ha-Tikhon" [Oil flows towards the Mediterranean Sea] by Israel Zarkhi. The Search of the Literary Type.

Celem pracy jest zbadanie obrazu nowego Żyda - Hebrajczyka ukazanego w powieści izraelskiego pisarza Israela Zarchiego ,,Ha-Neft zorem le-Jam ha-Tichon” [Ropa płynie do Morza Śródziemnego] i porównanie go z wizerunkiem sabry przedstawionym przez Oza Almoga w książce ,,The Sabra. The Creation of The New Jew”. Przeanalizowano także, w oprarciu o literaturę polską, jaki wzorzec literackiego bohatera prezentował główny bohater powieści, Gedeon Barkai.

The aim of the study is to examine the image of the New Jew – Hebrew created in the novel ‘Ha-Neft zorem le-Yam ha-Tikhon’ by Israeli writer Israel Zarchi and to compare it with the image of sabra presented by Oz Almog in the book “The Sabra . The Creation of the New Jew”. Additionally, a comparison to selected characters of Polish literary works was conducted in order to establish what type of a literary hero the main character of the novel Gedeon Barkai was.
