Nursing patients infected with Clostridium difficile with the use of closed systems to collect stool.

Pacjenci Oddziałów Intensywnej Terapii stanowią szczególną grupę chorych, którzy wymagają specjalistycznego leczenia i opieki. Ich sytuacje zdrowotną komplikują różnego rodzaju zakażenia, a jednym z nich jest zakażenie bakterią Clostridium difficile. Głównym objawem zakażenia jest biegunka, która u pacjentów leżących przyczynia się do powstania powikłań takich jak odleżyny, odparzenia oraz odwodnienie.Pisząc tą pracę podjęto próbę przedstawienia sytuacji zdrowotnej chorych Oddziału Intensywnej Terapii, pielęgnowanych zamkniętym systemem do zbiórki stolca. Na podstawie zebranego materiału badawczego opisano efekty leczenia zakażenia Clostridium difficile jak i efekty specjalistycznej pielęgnacji tych chorych.Infekcja Clostrdium difficile stanowi, także wyzwanie dla zespołu epidemiologicznego oraz konieczność wdrożenia dodatkowych procedur zapewniających bezpieczeństwo personelowi medycznemu jak i innym chorym. Zamknięty system do zbiórki stolca w znaczny sposób przyczynia się do zmniejszenia zakażeń, szczególnie w Oddziałach Intensywnej Terapii.

Patients in Intensive Therapy are a specific group of the ill which require specialized care and treatment. Their health situations are complicated by different kinds of contagions, one of which is the infection with the Clostridium difficile bacteria. The main symptom of the infection is diarrhea which contributes to complications like decubitus, scorching and dehydration in bed-bound patients.While writing this thesis an attempt was made to shed light on the situation of patients in Intensive Therapy treated under the closed system of collect stool. On the basis of the collected research material the treatment effect of dealing with the Clostridium difficile infection was described along with the description of effects of specialized nursing with the infected individuals.The Clostridium difficile infection poses a challenge for the epidemiological panel, creating a necessity in applying additional procedures assuring the safety of medical personnel as well as other patients. The closed system of stool collection helps significantly in stemming the spread of infection especially in Intensive Therapy.
