Slovak WHETHER OR SPISZAK orawiak - SLOVAK NATIONAL IDENTITY OF MINORITIES IN POLAND IN THE LIGHT OF LAWS AND SELECTED CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS

Tematem pracy jest przedstawienie środków służących podtrzymaniu tożsamości narodowej osób należących do mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych w Polsce na przykładzie mniejszości słowackiej. Omawiam zarówno działania podejmowane przez mniejszości narodowe i etniczne (liderów, organizacje), jak i instytucje państwowe (organy władzy centralnej, samorządowej, instytucje takie jak: szkoły, publiczne media). Celem pracy było zbadanie czy mniejszości narodowe otrzymują wystarczające wsparcie ze strony polskiego rządu (Ministerstwo Administracji i Cyfryzacji) co jest gwarantowane ustawą z 2005 roku o "Mniejszościach Narodowych i Etnicznych oraz Języku Regionalnym".

This paper concerns the Slovak minority in Poland living in Spiš and Orava. It presents its history and examines the methods to the objective of maintaining its national identity. It describes measures to maintain the culture and traditions of the Slovak community and Slovak cultural institutions in Poland. In particular, the role of the Association of Slovaks in Poland, the Slovak presses, Slovak schools. It describes the government who supports national minorities in Poland. Shows the Act for the Protection of the national identity of persons belonging to minorities, both international treaties and conventions as well as the Polish legal solutions.
