Coexistence of Shamanism and Christianity in Korea

Celem niniejszej pracy jest przedstawienie współistnienia koreańskiego szamanizmu oraz chrześcijaństwa w Korei. W części pierwszej praca skupia się na opisie koreańskiego szamanizmu z jego charakterystyką i historią. W drugiej części przedstawiona zostaje historia koreańskiego chrześcijaństwa, zaś w części trzeciej oba systemy zostają zestawione w kontekście ich rywalizacji i koegzystencji. Poruszone zostają kwestie synkretyzmu typowego dla koreańskiego szamanizmu oraz specyficznego charakteru, jakie przybrały w Korei chrześcijaństwo.

The aim of this thesis is to describe the coexistence of Shamanism and Christianity in Korea. The first part of the thesis is focused on Korean Shamanism and provides a description of its history and traits. In the second part of the thesis, the history of Korean Christianity is described. In the final part, the relationship between both systems' followers is explored in the context of their rivalization and coexistence. Syncretism typical for Korean Shamanism and the unique character of Korean Christianity are described as well.
