Modernity in the late comedies by Aleksander Fredro based on the example of the play „From Przemyśl to Przeszowa”

Praca dotyczy pośmietnie wydanej komedii autorstwa Aleksandra Fredry, pt. "Z Przemyśla do Przeszowy". Jej analiza pozwala, lepiej zrozumieć późną twórczość Fredry, który w 1835 r. zaprzestał wydawania swoich dzieł, ale nie porzucił działalności pisarskiej. Praca ukazuje, że pomimo braku aktywnego uczestnictwa w życiu literackim, Fredro świetnie odnalazł się w nowej, kapitalistycznej rzeczywistości, czego dowodem jest jego fascynacja najnowoczesniejszymi nowinkami technicznymi, takimi jak kolej, którą uczynił bohaterką swojej sztuki.

The topic of my dissertation is about the modernity in late comedies by Aleksander Fredro based on the example of the play "From Przemyśl to Przeszowa". The analysis gives us an opportunity to understand the late works by Aleksander Fredro who stopped publishing his works in 1835. However he didn't stopped writing. This dissertation proves that instead of not participating in the literary life, Fredro found his place in the new capitalist reality. The proof of this is his fascination of technical innovations such as the railway which he made one of the creatures of his play.
