The Baltic States path to independence

W niniejszej pracy autorka postanowiła podjąć temat uzyskania niepodległości przez państwa bałtyckie na przełomie lat 80. i 90. XX wieku. W pierwszym rozdziale przedstawiona została historia państw bałtyckich od początku XX wieku, aż do początku lat 80. Szczególna uwaga poświęcona została okresowi pierwszej niepodległości tych państw w okresie pomiędzy pierwszą i drugą wojną światową. Drugi rozdział przedstawia sytuacje Związku Radzieckiego w latach 80. XX wieku. Trzeci rozdział stanowi główną część pracy i opiera się na analizie wydarzeń, które rozegrały się w państwach bałtyckich w drugiej połowie lat 80. XX, od powstania ruchów na rzecz suwerenności republik, aż do uzyskania niepodległości. W rozdziale tym wskazane zostały różnice i podobieństwa w drodze tych państw do niepodległości, a także przedstawione wydarzenia i najważniejsze osoby biorące w nich udział, a które przyczyniły się do odzyskania niepodległości.

In this thesis the author decided to raise a subject of gaining independence by the Baltic States at the turn of 80s and 90s of the 20th century. In the first chapter a history of the Baltic States was presented from the beginning of the 20th century, all the way to the beginning of 80s. The particular attention was devoted to the period of the first independence of these states - between First and Second World War. The second part shows situations of the Soviet Union in 80s of the 20th century. The third chapter is the main part of the thesis based on analysis of events which took place in the Baltic States in the second half of 80s, from the formation of movements fighting for the sovereignty of republics, all the way to gaining independence. Differences and resemblances in the way of those states to independence are indicated, as well as described events and an important persons participating in them, and which led the Baltic States to independence.
