Causes and effects of extreme weather events in the early twenty-first century in Poland.

W XXI wieku na obszarze Polski zanotowano wiele ekstremalnych zjawisk i zdarzeń meteorologicznych, co potwierdzają liczne źródła literaturowe oraz ogólnodostępne dane meteorologiczne. Jako główną przyczynę pojawiania się omawianych ekstremów podaje się właściwe dla danego zjawiska sytuacje synoptyczne. Wielu cytowanych autorów zaznacza, że większość omówionych sytuacji pogodowych zdarzało się niejednokrotnie już w przeszłości i wiele razy osiągały one wyższe niż w analizowanym okresie wartości. Nie dotyczy to jednak wszystkich zdarzeń i zjawisk. Badacze podkreślają także, że obserwowane ekstremalne zjawiska i zdarzenia na początku XXI wieku nie dają jednoznacznej odpowiedzi na to, w jakim stopniu i czy w ogóle następuje wzrost ich częstości. Nie jest także do końca jasne czy omówione w pracy sytuacje pogodowe są efektem ocieplenia i zmian klimatycznych.

During the twenty-first century on the Polish territory many extreme weather events have been written down. This fact is confirmed by numerous sources of literature and public meteorological data. The main reason for the appearance of these extreme phenomena are, appropriate to each event synoptic situations. Many cited authors indicate that most of the discussed weather situations happened multiple times in the past and many times they reached higher values than in the analyzed period. It does not apply to all the events and phenomena. The researchers also point out that the observed extreme events at the beginning of the twenty-first century do not give a definite answer to that, to what extent, if at all there is an increase in their frequency. It is not also clear that, whether discussed in thesis weather situations are the result of warming and climate change
