Analysis of the functional condition and rehabilitation process of girls after removal of the cerebellar vermis tumor

WSTĘP: Guzy układu nerwowego są nadal drugimi co do częstości występowania , po białaczkach, zmianami nowotworowymi wśród pacjentów pediatrycznych. Zmiany te mogą występować zarówno u niemowląt jak i młodzieży dając najróżniejsze objawy kliniczne. Istniej wiele opracowań naukowych na ten temat, jednak tylko kilka wspomina o rehabilitacji pacjentów po zabiegach neurologicznych lub/i po zastosowanym leczeniu adiuwantowym.CEL PRACY: 1. Przedstawienie etapów diagnozowania, leczenia neurochirurgicznego oraz procesu rehabilitacji u dziewczynki z guzem tylnej jamy czaszki. 2. Ocena stanu funkcjonalnego opisywanego pacjenta.MATERIAŁ I METODA: Na podstawie opisu przypadku 9-letniego dziecka z guzem móżdżku zaprezentowano etapy leczenia, rehabilitacji i powrotu do sprawności po leczeniu operacyjnym. Do oceny stanu pacjentki użyto skonstruowanego protokołu badania neurologicznego i funkcjonalnego.WYNIKI: Zaobserwowano znaczną poprawę w zakresie ocenianych funkcji i aktywności po zastosowanym leczeniu.WNIOSKI: Rehabilitacja jest nieodzownym etapem kompleksowego leczenia pacjenta ze zdiagnozowanym guzem ośrodkowego układu nerwowego.Poprawa w zakresie funkcjonowania pacjenta jest dowodem na zasadności oraz konieczność stosowania indywidualnej i dostosowanej do stanu pacjenta terapii.

INTRODUCTION: Tumors of the central nervous system are still the second most common changes, after leukemia, among pediatric patients. These changes can occur in infants and adolescents giving various clinical manifestations. There are many scientific studies on this subject, but only a few mention about the rehabilitation of patients after neurosurgery and/ or adjuvant treatment. PURPOSE: 1. To present the stages of diagnosis, treatment, neurosurgery and rehabilitation process in a girl with posterior fossa tumors. 2. Evaluation of functional state of the patient described.MATERIAL AND METHOD: Based on the description of the case of 9-year-old child with a tumor of the cerebellum presents the stages of treatment, rehabilitation and return to efficiency after surgery. To assess the patient's status was used protocol constructed and functional neurological examination.RESULTS: There was a significant improvement in the function and activity assessed following treatment.CONCLUSIONS: Rehabilitation is an essential step in the comprehensive treatment of a patient diagnosed with a tumor of the central nervous system.The improvement in patient functioning is proof of the legitimacy and the need for individual and tailored to the patient's therapy.
