Knowledge Management in Public Organizations on the Example of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute

This master’s thesis was written with regard to the problems connected with the knowledge management in public institutions. The features related to the concept of knowledge, knowledge management and the methods of knowledge management assessment, were analyzed in detail. Therefore, the thesis was created in order to explain the broadness and significance of the knowledge management in public institutions. Although the knowledge management becomes commonplace, most of the public organizations have some difficulties with the implementation of a functioning knowledge management system. To take a closer look at these issues, the author examined the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw. In the study of qualitative methods, ie. an interview with a modified questionnaire by A. Kowalczyk and B. Nogalski were used. The study has revealed a very high level of knowledge management in the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. The institution implements all the necessary processes related to knowledge management and creates the necessary conditions for the smooth functioning of knowledge management. Moreover, The Adam Mickiewicz Institute has the Department of Knowledge Management.

Niniejsza praca magisterska omawia problematykę związaną z zarządzaniem wiedzą w instytucjach publicznych. Szczegółowej analizie zostały poddane aspekty związane z pojęciem wiedzy, zarządzaniem wiedzą oraz sposobami oceny zarządzania wiedzą. Tekst pracy powstał w celu objaśnienia szerokiej problematyki istotności zarządzania wiedzą w instytucjach publicznych. Mimo, że zarządzanie wiedzą staje się czymś powszechnym większość organizacji publicznych ma problem z wdrożeniem sprawnie funkcjonującego systemu zarządzania wiedzą. Aby bliżej przyjrzeć się powyższej problematyce, autor pracy poddał ocenie Instytut Adama Mickiewicza w Warszawie. Do realizacji badania wykorzystano metody jakościowe tj. wywiad z wykorzystaniem zmodyfikowanego kwestionariusza autorstwa A. Kowalczyka i B. Nogalskiego. Przeprowadzone badanie wykazało, że poziom zarządzania wiedzą w Instytucie Adama Mickiewicza jest bardzo wysoki. Instytucja realizuje wszystkie niezbędne procesy związane z zarządzaniem wiedzą, stwarza niezbędne warunki dla sprawnego funkcjonowania zarządzania wiedzą. W Instytucie Adama Mickiewicza działa Wydział Zarządzania Wiedzą.
