Lanscapes of Memory. On the Poetry of Henryk Grynberg

Przedmiotem zawartej w pracy analizy są relacje między krajobrazem i pamięcią w poezji polskiego pisarza, Henryka Grynberga. Grynberg jest znany przede wszystkim jako autor powieści o tematyce Zagłady, który przyjmuje rolę świadka, wypowiadającego się w imieniu żydowskich ofiar Holokaustu, a także zmagającego się z problemem antysemityzmu i zakłamywania pamięci. Dokonana w pracy analiza poezji Grynberga staje się więc próbą dopełnienia istniejących opracowań twórczości autora.Interpretację wierszy Grynberga poprzedza część teoretyczna, w której autorka stara się prześledzić wybrane koncepcje i poglądy na temat krajobrazu. Głównym celem pracy jest natomiast ukazanie „krajobrazu pamięci” jako pojęcia akcentującego interaktywną relację między krajobrazami, podmiotem a naznaczoną traumą pamięcią.

The thesis is an attempt to analyse the relationships between landscapes and memory in the poetry of the Polish writer, Henryk Grynberg. Grynberg is especially known as a Holocaust prose writer, who witnesses on behalf of Jewish victims as well as tackles a problem of anti-semitism and misrepresented memory of the Holocaust. Therefore, the thesis supplements studies on Grynberg’s writings by focusing on his poetry. The analysis of Grynberg’s poems is preceded by the theoretical chapter, which is an attempt to investigate the meanings of “landscape”, based on a selected concepts from the theory of landscape. The main aim of the thesis is to present the “landscape of memory” as a notion which emphasises an interactive relationships between landscapes, subject, and traumatic memory.
