The golden era of Polish novellas compared to Hungarian novellas from the edge of the 19th and 20th century.

This work is a comparison between Polish Positivist novellas and Hungarian novellas in the late 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Concepts from the theory of literature concerning the short prose were explained. The comparison of the chosen pieces involves an analysis of the content as well as a description of motifs and literary movements. This all made it possible to reveal similarities and differences in Polish and Hungarian novellas of that period.

W pracy porównane zostały polskie nowele pozytywistyczne oraz węgierskie nowele przełomu XIX i XX wieku. Wyjaśniono pojęcia z zakresu teorii literatury dotyczące tego krótkiego utworu prozatorskiego. Na komparatystykę złożyły się analiza treści wybranych utworów oraz omówienie występujących w nich motywów i prądów literackich. Takie zabiegi dały możliwość wskazania podobieństw i różnic w nowelach polskich i węgierskich tamtego okresu.
