The role of icons of the Mother of God in the history of Kievan Rus and Grand Principality of Moscow

Эта работа посвящена проблеме роли иконы Богоматери в истории Киевской и Московской Руси. В трех главах работы предпринята попытка представить самые важные факты из истории четырех икон Богоматери (Владимирской, Казанской, Смоленской и Донской), в том числе обстоятельства их написания и появления на теpритории Древней Руси, исследовать важнейшие связанные с ними исторические события и определить роль культа иконы Божией Матери в общественной жизни.

The subject of this study is the role of the Mother of God in the history of Kievan Rus' and Grand Principality of Moscow. In the three chapters of the work I tried to present the most important facts from the history of the four icons of the Mother of God (Theotokos of Vladimir, Our Lady of Kazan, Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God and Our Lady of the Don), including the circumstances of their creation and first appearing on the territory of ancient Rus'. I also tried to present the most important historical events related to them and define the role of the cult of the Mother of God in the Russian society.

Niniejsza praca poświęcona została tematowi roli Matki Boskiej w historii Rusi Kijowskiej i Moskiewskiej. W trzech rozdziałach pracy podjęto próbę przedstawienia najważniejszych faktów dotyczących historii czterech ikon Matki Boskiej (Włodzimierskiej, Kazańskiej, Smoleńskiej i Dońskiej), przybliżenia okoliczności ich powstania i pojawienia się na terytorium Rusi. W pracy tej przedstawiono także najważniejsze wydarzenia historyczne związane z wybranymi ikonami Bogurodzicy oraz podjęto próbę określenia roli kultu Matki Boskiej w rosyjskim społeczeństwie.
