The daily life of Polish immigrants in states of Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania in the years 1918-1929.

W pierwszym rozdziale mojej pracy scharakteryzowałam sytuację polskich imigrantów tuż po opuszczeniu wyspy Ellis Island, omówiłam amerykańską politykę imigracyjną, przedstawiłam liczebność i rozmieszczenie Polonii, a także problemy asymilacji w nowym świecie. W drugim rozdziale przedstawiłam głównie sytuację polskich imigrantów na amerykańskim rynku pracy. Trzeci rozdział traktuje o stosunkach Polaków z innymi grupami imigranckimi – Włochami, Irlandczykami, Żydami oraz Murzynami. W tej części rozprawy omówiłam również stosunek Amerykanów do polskich imigrantów, a także problem ruchów natywistycznych. W czwartym, ostatnim rozdziale omówiłam proces reemigracji Polaków po I wojnie światowej, ich pomocy dla Polski tuż po odzyskaniu niepodległości, a także o zmianach jakie zaszły w świadomości Polonii.

In the first chapter of my disseration I described the situation of Polish immigrants shortly after leaving of Ellis Island, I discussed also US immigration policy, presented the abundance and distribution of Poles, as well as problems of assimilation in the new world. In the second chapter I presented mainly the situation of Polish immigrants in the US labor market. The third chapter deals with relations of Poles with other immigrant groups- Italians, Irish, Jews and Blacks. In this part of the essay I discussed also the ratio of Americans to Polish immigrants, as well as the problem of the nativist movements. In the fourth, the last chapter I discussed the proces of re-emigration of Poles after World War I, their support for the Polish shortly after independence, as well as about changes in the consciousness of Poles.
