An image of Spain in the audiovisual translation: the tv series Los Serrano in the polish television

My dissertation considers the problems that causes a presence of the cultural elements in audiovisual translation, particurarly in the versions with lectors. The problem is illusatrated with the Polish version of a Spanish tv series Los Serrano. The beginning sections discuss the concept of culture and cultural elements in translation. Moreoever, I draw some attention to specific techniques of translation and a role of a translator in the process. This chapter is also a commentary on reserachers' view of the topic of non-translateable cultural schemas. The next chapter of this paper consists of the characteristics of an audiovisual translation with a particular focus on the role of a lector in a translation. The role of a translator and the most frequently occuring techniques used in translation are highlighted. Los Serrano, a very popular tv series is a subject of a study in the next chapter with a particular emphasis on its cultural aspects. The Last chapter of the thesis is an analysis of the translation of those cultural elements in the Polish version of the aforementioned tv series, which enables a researcher to draw conclusions on the image of Spain popularized by the Polish media.

La tesina aborda el tema de la traducción audiovisual de los elementos culturales y se basa en la traducción de la serie televisiva española Los Serrano al polaco. En la parte teórica se define el término de cultura y se evocan varias consideraciones acerca de los elementos culturales presentes en la traducción. Asimismo se enumeran las técnicas de traducción y se plantea el tema del papel del mismo traductor en dicho proceso. Se evocan también las investigaciones acerca de la intraducibilidad cultural. En segundo lugar, se explican las características de la traducción audiovisual, especialmente, los problemas que surgen de la versión llamada voz superpuesta. Al mismo tiempo, se comenta la labor del traductor en la traducción audiovisual de los elementos culturales y las técnicas de traducción más frecuentes. A continuación se comenta el caso de la serie televisiva Los Serrano poniendo énfasis en los numerosos elementos culturales presentes en la serie. Por último, se investiga la traducción de dichos elementos en la versión polaca para formular una conlusión en cuanto a la imagen de España que, a través de la serie Los Serrano, reciben los espectadores polacos.

Praca magisterska porusza problem elementów kulturowych w tłumaczeniu audiowizualnym, zwłaszcza w wersji lektorskiej. Problematyka została zilustrowana na przykładzie polskiej wersji hiszpańskiego serialu telewizyjnego Los Serrano. W pierwszej kolejności omawia się pojęcie kultury i elementów kulturowych obecnych w przekładzie. Wskazuje się również techniki tłumaczenia oraz rolę samego tłumacza w owym procesie. Przywołuje się również poglądy badaczy na temat nieprzekładalności kulturowej. W dalszej części prezentuje się charakterystykę tłumaczenia audiowizualnego ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem wersji lektorskiej. Przedstawia się szczególną rolę tłumacza i najczęstsze techniki tłumaczeniowe. Następnie rozważa się przypadek popularnego serialu Los Serrano, zwracając szczególną uwagę na obecne w nim elementy kulturowe. Na koniec analizuje się tłumaczenie owych elementów w polskiej wersji serialu, co pozwala wyciągnąć wnioski na temat obrazu Hiszpanii jaki, za sprawą owego serialu, otrzymuje polska publiczność.
