Designing the future. Visions of the end of time of man in the works of Jacek Dukaj

Celem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej jest przedstawienie i analiza modeli z transhumanistycznej przyszłości człowieka obecnych w prozie Jacka Dukaja. Moim zdaniem, można zidentyfikować trzy takie modele: (1) model technologicznej autoewolucji człowieka; (2) model przekraczania człowieczeństwa; oraz (3) model postludzkiej rzeczywistości. Każdemu z podeli poświęciłam osobny rozdział w części analitycznej pracy. W części wprowadzającej natomiast staram się przedstawić rozwój idei transhumanizmu, jej najważniejsze kwestie oraz tradycje do jakiej się odwołuje.

The objective of this master’s thesis is to present and analyze the models of the transhumanist future of man present in the prose of Jacek Dukaj. In my opinion, three such models can be identified: (1) the model of the technological self-evolution of man; (2) the model of transgressing humanity; and (3) the model of posthuman reality. A separate chapter in the analytical part of the thesis is devoted to each of these models. In the introductory part I am trying to portray the development of the idea of transhumanism, as well as its key issues and the tradition it is referring to.
