Introduction: Modern medical technologies offer vast possibilities, both in terms of diagnosis and therapy. The technological development is dynamic and unavoidable. The people connected with the healthcare facilities, such as patients, payors, or staff, in a way enforce the changes and the investments. This study is devoted to the changes that are ongoing in the hospitals and were forced by the technological development.Aim of the study: The aim of the following study is to establish what is prioritised by the healthcare facilities when they undergo modernization that is forced by technological development.Materials and study methods: In the study, an analysis of the scientific literature has been made. Qualitative research method has been chosen. It involved in-depth interviews with the decision-makers (the executives or managers) deciding about new medical technologies, and also with those who are directly connected with the implementation process of the medical apparatus and its maintenance in those facilities. The study research has been carried out on May 2015, and during it 11 people from 3 different hospitals were interviewed. The hospitals were chosen based on the level of medical equipment and provided services.Results: The interviewed people answered questions regarding: the willingness towards implementing the technological changes in the healthcare facilities, how they evaluate the efficiency of Polish law in terms of equipment modernization, and if there should be any changes made, and if yes what kind of changes, when it comes to the medical staff when introducing new equipment, and how to prepare the hospital for the ongoing changes. The possibility of free expression of one’s opinion about: the superiority of new apparatus over the old one, what possibilities the new equipment gives, and confronting expressed opinions with their experience, made it easier to learn more about the interviewee’s point of view.Conclusions: The hospitals eagerly effectuate the changes under the influence of the technological development. The willingness to make those changes is due to: the desire of being competitive on the market, the increase of National Health Fund’s requirements regarding the medical apparatus, profits and cost savings resulting from implementation of modern technologies, and increasing expectancies of the patients. The technological development contributes to the increase of the qualifications of the medical staff operating the medical equipment, thus increasing the service quality. Therefore, progress in the healthcare facilities is advisable, however, it requires a consideration and competence of those making decisions.
Wstęp: Nowoczesne technologie medyczne dają spore możliwości zarówno diagnostyczne jak i terapeutyczne. Rozwój technologii jest dynamiczny i nieunikniony. Otoczenie placówek ochrony zdrowia takie jak pacjenci, płatnik, czy pracownicy, wymusza niejako zmiany i inwestycje. Praca poświęcona jest zmianom jakie zachodzą w szpitalach, które zostały wymuszone postępem technologicznym.Cel pracy: Celem niniejszej pracy jest poznanie priorytetów, jakie towarzyszą placówkom ochrony zdrowia podczas ich modernizacji, wymuszonej postępem technologicznym.Materiał i metody badawcze: W pracy dokonano analizy literatury naukowej, oraz posłużono się metodą badania jakościowego, tj. wywiadu pogłębionego z osobami decyzyjnymi w zakresie nowych technologii medycznych (dyrekcja czy kierownicy), a także osobami bezpośrednio związanymi z procesem wdrażania i konserwacji aparatury medycznej w tych jednostkach. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone w maju 2015 roku, a wywiadu udzieliło jedenaście osób z trzech szpitali wybranych ze względu na specjalistyczny poziom posiadanej aparatury medycznej, oraz świadczonych usług.Wyniki: Zapytane osoby wypowiedziały się w takich kwestiach jak: chęć dokonywania zmian technologicznych w placówkach ochrony zdrowia, jak oceniają skuteczność obowiązującego prawa polskie w modernizacji aparatury, czy i jakich zmian należy dokonać z powodu instalowania nowego sprzętu w zakresie kadr medycznych, oraz jak najlepiej przygotować szpital do zachodzących zmian. Możliwość swobodnej wypowiedzi osób z którymi został przeprowadzony wywiad na tematy takie jak: wyższość nowych aparatów nad starymi, jakie nowy sprzęt daje nowe możliwości dla szpitala, oraz skonfrontowanie wypowiedzi z własnymi doświadczeniami pozwoliło bliżej poznać opinie rozmówców.Wnioski: Szpitale chętnie dokonują zmian pod wpływem rozwoju technologicznego, a decyduje o tym chęć stawania się konkurencyjnym na rynku, podwyższanie wymagań NFZ co do posiadanej aparatury medycznej, zyski i oszczędności z racji wprowadzania nowoczesnych technologii, oraz stale rosnące oczekiwania pacjentów. Postęp technologiczny przyczynia się do podnoszenia kwalifikacji personelu obsługującego sprzęt medyczny, a co za tym idzie, wzrasta również jakość świadczonych usług. Postęp w placówkach medycznych jest więc wskazany, ale wymaga przemyślenia i kompetencji osób decydujących o nim.
