"Analiza porównawcza wybranych wierszy Williama Blakea i ich polskich przekładów autorstwa Zygmunta Kubiaka, Stanisława Barańczaka, Jolanty Kozak i Krzysztofa Puławskiego".

The thesis entitled ‘The comparative analysis of William Blake’s selected poems and their Polish translations by Zygmunt Kubiak, Stanisław Barańczak, Jolanta Kozak and Krzysztof Puławski’ aims at evaluation of the translations of each poem in terms of their fidelity to the original – whether they function in the same way and whether their interpretation agrees with the interpretation of the original. Analysis also includes the examination of the strategies used.The selected poems are: "The Divine Image", "The Sick Rose" and "London" and the analysed translations are made by Zygmunt Kubiak, Stanisław Barańczak, Jolanta Kozak and Krzysztof Puławski. The paper concerns the characteristics of poetry – its function, language and style and such features as prosody and rhetorical devices. Then it moves on to characteristics of poetic translation, possible problems, issues of equivalence and ways of solving these problems. The next section focuses on the figure of William Blake, his life and work. It presents the historical background and other factors that might have influenced Blake’s works. Also the main motives of his work are presented here: religion and the Bible, the city, politics and society and love, marriage and sexuality. The last chapter presents the analysis and comparison of the original and translated text on the basis of the following criteria: form, sense and semantic dominant. The analysis also concerns the accordance to the canonical interpretations of the original texts which is also presented in this chapter.

Celem pracy zatytułowanej „Analiza porównawcza wybranych wierszy Williama Blake'a i ich polskich przekładów autorstwa Zygmunta Kubiaka, Stanisława Barańczaka, Jolanty Kozak i Krzysztofa Puławskiego” jest ocena tłumaczenia każdego wiersza pod względem wierności oryginałowi – czy funkcjonują one w ten sam sposób i czy ich interpretacja zgadza się z interpretacją oryginałów. Analiza obejmuje również strategie wykorzystane przez tłumaczy.Wybrane wiersze to: „Boski wizerunek”, „Chora Róża” i „Londyn”, a analizowane przekłady zostały dokonane przez Zygmunta Kubiaka, Stanisława Barańczaka, Jolantę Kozak i Krzysztofa Puławskiego. W pracy omówione zostały cechy poezji – jej funkcja, język i styl oraz takie aspekty jak prozodia i środki stylistyczne. Następnie przedstawiona zostaje charakterystyka tłumaczenia poetyckiego, możliwe problemy, kwestia ekwiwalencji oraz sposoby rozwiązywania tych problemów. Następny rozdział poświęcony jest postaci Williama Blake'a, jego życiu i twórczości. Przedstawia tło historyczne i inne czynniki, które mogły mieć wpływ na twórczość Blake'a. Zaprezentowane zostały również główne motywy jego utworów: religia i Biblia, miasto, polityka i społeczeństwo oraz miłość, małżeństwo i seksualność. Ostatni rozdział dotyczy analizy i porównania oryginalnych tekstów i ich tłumaczeń według następujących kryteriów: formy, sensu oraz dominanty semantycznej. Analiza dotyczy także ich zgodności z kanonicznymi interpretacjami tekstów źródłowych.
