Importance of upper montane belt glades for tourism in Gorce Mountains

Górnoreglowe polany stanowią istotny element w krajobrazie Gorców, przyczyniając się do jego mozaikowości. Grzbietowe położenie czyni z nich doskonałe punkty widokowe i orientacyjne. Wysoka bioróżnorodność, sezonowa zmienność kolorów, bogactwo owoców leśnych, odgłosy przyrody, wkomponowane w krajobraz szałasy pasterskie i obiekty sakralne nadają polanom walor miejsc szczególnie interesujących dla turysty. Stanowią one również korzystną lokalizację dla drobnej infrastruktury turystycznej, a także obiektów noclegowych. Niestety, postępujący proces renaturalizacji wyraźnie zagraża turystycznym walorom polan, zwłaszcza położonym poza obszarem Gorczańskiego Parku Narodowego.

Upper montane belt glades constitute important feature of Gorce Mountains. Due to the glades Gorce landscape is much more miscellaneous. The glades situated on the steep slopes are excellent observation and viewpoints. High level of biodiversity, seasonal variety of colors, plenty of wild forest fruits, noise of nature, shepherds’ huts blended with the landscape and sacral architecture make Gorce glades very attractive to tourists. The glades are also a convenient place for small scale tourism accommodation and infrastructure. Nevertheless, tourist value of Gorce upper montane belt glades has been endangered by progressing renaturalization process. The negative impact on upper montane belt glades refers mostly to glades situated beyond Gorce National Park.
