Problemy i strategie tłumaczenia literatury młodzieżowej: Analiza "Oddam ci słońce" Jandy Nelson i "Fangirl" Rainbow Rowell

The aim of this paper is to examine the problems which might be encountered in translating young adult literature and to analyse translation strategies used in the rendition of Jandy Nelson's I'll Give You the Sun by Dominika Cieśla-Szymańska and in the rendition of Rainbow Rowell's Fangirl by Magdalena Zielińska. Significant attention is paid to the translation of youth language. The author presents the history and definition of young adult literature, characteristics of youth language and selected concerns of children's literature translation theory. The analysis of the selected novels and their renditions centers on culture-specific elements, names and nicknames, and youth language.

Celem niniejszej pracy jest zbadanie problemów, które można napotkać przy tłumaczeniu powieści młodzieżowych, i analiza strategii tłumaczeniowych wykorzystanych w tłumaczeniach powieści Jandy Nelson Oddam ci słońce (tłumaczenie Dominika Cieśla-Szymańska) i powieści Rainbow Rowell Fangirl (tłumaczenie Magdalena Zielińska). Szczególną uwagę autorka zwraca na tłumaczenie języka młodzieży. Autorka przedstawia historię i definicję literatury młodzieżowej, charakterystykę języka młodzieży i pewne zagadnienia teorii tłumaczenia odnoszące się do literatury dziecięcej. Analizując wybrane powieści i ich tłumaczenia, autorka skupia się na elementach kulturowych, imionach i przezwiskach oraz języku młodzieży.
