Tworzenie tytułowej bohaterki w powieści naturalistycznej "Nana" Emila Zoli

The aim of the thesis is the analysis of the main character of the naturalistic novel Nana by Emile Zola which is part of Les Rougon-Macquart series. The thesis is divided in three parts. The first one reveal the biographical and historical context of the novel. Then it is presented the belonging of Emile Zola to the group of the naturalistic writers who name themselves the observers of the reality and, possessing the scientific ambitions, develop in their work the concept of the heredity. The third analytic part is entirely dedicate to the character of Nana. I mainly focus on three fragments which are in the beginning (the spectacle in the Theatre Varietes), in the middle (the article wrote by Fauchery) and at the end of the book (the death of Nana). The objective of this thesis is to discover the intention of the novel and to see the transformation of Nana – naturalist protagonist into symbolic figure, the metaphor of the society during the Second French Empire.

L’objet de ce mémoire est l’analyse du personnage éponyme dans le roman naturaliste d’Émile Zola intitulé Nana qui fait partie de la série des Rougon-Macquart. Le mémoire est divisé en trois parties. La première montre le contexte biographique et historique du roman. Ensuite, il est présentée l’appartenance d’Émile Zola au groupe d’écrivains naturalistes qui se disent observateurs de la réalité de son temps et, possédant des ambitions scientifiques, abordent dans leurs œuvres le sujet de l’hérédité. La troisième partie analytique est entièrement consacrée au personnage de Nana. Je me concentre surtout sur trois fragments qui se trouvent au début (le spectacle dans le Théâtre Variétés), au milieu (l’article de Fauchery) et à la fin du roman (la mort de Nana). Le but de ce travail consiste à découvrir l’intention de l’œuvre et faire voir la métamorphose de Nana - personnage naturaliste en créature symbolique, métaphore de la société pendant le période du Seconde Empire.

Praca licencjacka jest analizą tytułowej bohaterki powieści naturalistycznej "Nana" Emila Zoli, która jest częścią serii Rougon-Macquart. Praca podzielona jest na trzy części. Pierwsza ukazuje kontekst biograficzny i historyczny utworu. Następnie przedstawiam przynależność Emila Zoli do grupy pisarzy naturalistycznych, którzy są obserwatorami rzeczywistości i posiadając ambicje naukowe poruszają w swoich dziełach temat dziedziczności cech. Trzecia część analityczna jest w całości poświęcona postaci Nany. Skupiam się szczególnie na trzech fragmentach, które znajdują się na początku (spektakl w Teatrze Varietes), w środku (artykuł Fauchery'ego) i na końcu powieści (śmierć Nany). Celem pracy jest odkrycie intencji dzieła i ukazanie przemiany Nany - bohaterki naturalistycznej w istotę symboliczną, metaforę społeczeństwa w okresie Drugiego Cesarstwa Francuskiego.
