The motivation of names in the cities of Upper Silesia from 2004 to 2014

Celem niniejszej pracy było odnalezienie odpowiedzi na pytanie, czym motywowany był wybór imienia dla dziecka urodzonego w latach 2004-2014 dokonany przez kobiety zamieszkujące miasta górnośląskie. W związku z tym została przeprowadzona ankieta wśród stu kobiet będących matkami oraz zamieszkujących wybrane miasta. W pracy została przedstawiona definicja imienia oraz jego geneza, historia nadawania imion w Polsce, klasyfikacja imion występujących w materiale badawczym ze względu na pochodzenie oraz analiza motywacji podanych w ankiecie.

The objective of this study was to find the answer to the question, which was motivated choice of name for a child born in the years 2004-2014 made by women living in the city Upper Silesia. Therefore,a survey was conducted among a hundred women who are mothers and living in selected cities. The study was presented definition of the name and its origins, the history of naming in Poland, the classification of the names appearing in the test material due to the origin and analysis of the motivations given in the survey.
