Strategie tłumaczenia humoru w komedii sytuacyjnej "Fawlty Towers"

Tematem niniejszej pracy są strategie tłumaczeniowe stosowane w przekładzie humoru. Praca została napisana na podstawie serialu komediowego „Fawlty Towers” („Hotel Zacisze”).Praca składa się dwóch części: teoretycznej i analitycznej. Część teoretyczna podzielona jest na dwa rozdziały. W pierwszym rozdziale znajduje się opis specyfiki tłumaczenia audiowizualnego jak również zarys historii przekładu. W drugim rozdziale opisane zostało pojęcie humoru i różne aspekty związane z jego przekładem. Przedstawiono również strategie tłumaczeniowe stosowane w przekładzie audiowizualnym oraz wyjaśniono różnicę między metodą, strategią i techniką tłumaczeniową.Część analityczna oparta jest na porównaniu oryginalnych dialogów angielskich oraz podpisów w języku polskim, które miało na celu prześledzenie strategii zastosowanych w tłumaczeniu. Analiza przeprowadzona w pracy pokazuje, że wszystkie strategie tłumaczeniowe zaproponowane przez Gottlieba mają swoje zastosowanie w przekładzie audiowizualnym w postaci podpisów.

The aim of this thesis is to analyse the translation strategies applied in the process of humour translation in the sitcom “Fawlty Towers.”The theoretical part is divided into two chapters. In the first chapter audiovisual translation is discussed and subtitling as a translation method is described. In the second chapter the concept of humour is explained. There is also provided the distinction between translation method, translation strategy and translation technique. Gottlieb’s translation strategies are also discussed. In the analytical part there is a comparison between the original dialogues of the sitcom and the translated Polish subtitles. The translation procedures applied for the translation are examined. At the end of the chapter there is a brief conclusion of the results obtained. The analysis shows that all Gottlieb’s translation strategies were applied in the translation of the sitcom.
