W niniejszej pracy podążam śladami Christophera Johnsona McCandlessa w jego samotnej podróży – pragnieniu porzucenia cywilizacji, aby odnaleźć siebie. Staram się uchwyć jego przemianę wewnętrzną, dla otoczenia wydającą się „przychodzić znikąd”, nieoczywistą, niejednoznaczną. Taką drogę ,,znikąd” próbuję przybliżyć. W języku myśli egzystencjalnej i w szczególności Viktora Emila Frankla, przy zastosowaniu indywidualnej historii życia jako studium przypadku, reprezentującego podejście idiograficzne w psychologii. „Znikąd” jest znakiem tego, co leży poza granicami naszego oka, co jest niewidzialne, ale jest.

The aim of this paper is to follow the footsteps of Christopher Johnson McCandless in his lonely journey – the desire to abandon civilization to find his true self. I am trying to grasp his inner transformation. The transformation that seems to people around him to ,,come from nowhere”. The transformation that is nonobvious and ambiguous. I am trying to understand and explain that change ,,that comes from nowhere”. Is it really so very unexpected? I am referring to existential psychology. In particular, to Viktor Emil Frankl's theory of meaning. I am using individual life story as a case study which represents idiografical approach in psychology. "Nowhere" is a sign of what lies beyond the borders of our eye, which is invisible, but it truly is.
