Niniejsza praca przedstawia kulturę jako najważniejszy, a zarazem najtrudniejszy w oddaniu element składowy przekładu. W rozdziale pierwszym zawarte są informacje dotyczące autorki oraz treści książki. Określony zostaje jej styl i przypisana zostaje do konkretnego gatunku literackiego, jakim jest reportaż podróżniczy. Kolejny podrozdział poświęcony jest charakterystyce tłumaczenia literackiego oraz roli interpretacji tłumacza-czytelnika. Uwagę poświęca się również warstwie językowej i zabiegom tłumacza mającym na celu właściwe jej oddane, ale co najważniejsze na roli kultury, której elementem składniowym jest język i której to poświęcona jest niniejsza praca. Główną część niniejszej pracy stanowi analiza elementów kulturowych, do których należą elementy ubioru, elementy związane z religiami oraz elementy kulinarne. Przedstawiona zostaje dodatkowa trudność w postaci przyrostków oraz zwrotów grzecznościowych używanych w Indiach. Osobne miejsce poświęca się problemowi intertekstualności.. Ostatni podrozdział części praktycznej poświęcony jest slangowi charakterystycznemu dla australijskiej odmiany języka angielskiego.

The aim of this study is to show culture as the most important, and the hardest element to translate. In the first chapter the author, style, and literary genre of the book are described. The characteristics of literary translation, as well as the translator’s interpretative role is specified. The second chapter of this study is dedicated to the analysis of particular problematic culturally important words. The main part of this study is the analysis of cultural elements such as names of traditional garments, religious terms, and culinary terminology. In addition, the role of particularly problematic suffixes, and complimentary phrases in the Indian society is emphasized. Next subchapter is dedicated to the problem of intertextuality. The last subchapter is dedicated to the Australian slang.
