North Americas effigy mounds. Analysis based on chosen examples and interpretation of their purpose.

The purpose of this thesis is to present the constructions, known as effigy mounds that were built on the terrains of North America. The first chapter is going to be the introduction to this topic, while the second one will focus on the structure of the mounds. Third chapter will be the description of the few archaeological sites that I have chosen. In the last one the most popular theories about the symbolism and purpose of those buildings will get analyzed.

Celem mojej pracy, jest omówienie kopców figuralnych powstających na terytorium Ameryki Północnej. Rozdział pierwszy zostanie poświęcony ogólnemu wprowadzeniu do tematyki, natomiast drugi będzie opisem ich konstrukcji. W trzecim zostaną omówione wybrane stanowiska archeologiczne, a w czwartym, ostatnim, przeanalizuje najpopularniejsze teorie wyjaśniające symbolikę oraz cel tych konstrukcji.
