Autokreacja w filozofii Richarda Rortyego i Charlesa Taylora

This essay is devoted to self-creation in the thought of two contemporary philosophers. The first section containts an analysis of the views of Richard Rorty. First, self-creation is shown in a broader context of Rorty's liberal-ironic utopia. Further on, Rorty's model of self-creation is thoroughly analyzed, with special attention being put to its sources: the thought of Frederic Nietzsche and Sigmund Freud as well as writings of Marcel Proust. The second section is devoted to self-creation in the thought of Charles Taylor. The initiatory fragments underline an important role that self-creation played in the process of shaping modern identity (self). Later on, Taylor's views on self-creation are shown in a wider context of the Canadian philosopher's antropological theory and then criticized. In the final section of this essay the views of both philosophers are compared, underlining both the differences between them and the many mutual parts.

Niniejsza praca poświęcona jest problematyce autokreacji w myśli dwóch filozofów współczesnych. W pierwszej części analizie poddane zostają poglądy Richarda Rorty'ego. Najpierw tematyka autokreacji zostaje ukazana na szerszym tle liberalno-ironicznej utopii, którą proponuje autor. Następnie przeanalizowany zostaje model autokreacji Rorty'ego, ze szczególnym wskazaniem na jego źródła: myśl Fryderyka Nietzschego i Zygmunta Freuda oraz pisarstwo Marcela Prousta. Druga część pracy poświęcona jest autokreacji w myśli Charlesa Taylora. Początkowe fragmenty tej części wskazują na ważną rolę, jaką autokreacja pełniła w procesie kształtowania się nowoczesnej tożsamości. Dalej model Taylora zostaje wpisany w szerszą koncepcję antropologiczną kanadyjskiego filozofa i poddany krytyce. W zakończeniu niniejszej pracy teorie obydwu myślicieli zostają ze sobą zestawione. Podkreślone zostają zarówno dzielące je różnice, jak i liczne punkty styczne.
