The subject of the article is the issue of artistic freedom of theatre directors and the influence of theater manager on the creative process on the example of Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Krakow. The case analysis has become a pretext for reflections on the boundaries of artistic freedom, the ways in which they are determined, and the appropriateness of the manager’s interventions in the director's work.

Praca podejmuje zagadnienie wolności artystycznej reżyserów teatralnych oraz wpływu dyrektora teatru na proces twórczy na przykładzie Teatru im. J. Słowackiego w Krakowie. Analiza przypadku stała się pretekstem do rozważań nad granicami wolności artystycznej, sposobami ich ustalania oraz zasadności ingerencji dyrektora w obszar działań reżysera.
