Islamophobia in Europe in the 21st century

Islamofobia jest zjawiskiem, które w ostatnich latach w coraz mocniejszy sposób zaznacza się w życiu społeczeństw europejskich. Strach przed islamem w coraz większym stopniu przenika do dyskursu publicznego w zachodnich państwach. Praca ma za zadanie dowieść, iż w Europie w XXI w. istnieje zjawisko islamofobii. Aby wykazać słuszność postawionej tezy, należy przeanalizować dokładnie różne przejawy islamofobii, na przykładzie państw europejskich, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Francji, Wielkiej Brytanii i Polski. W pierwszym rozdziale pracy opisana będzie religia muzułmańska na tle innych religii oraz jej geneza. Dużą część pierwszego rozdziału będzie poświęcona także samemu pojęciu islamofobii, jego genezie oraz analizie kontrowersji jakie wiążą się z tym pojęciem. W drugim rozdziale pracy analizowane będą przejawy współczesnej islamofobii w Europie a także przedstawione zostaną przykłady fizycznych aktów agresji wobec muzułmanów na przykładzie trzech państw: Wielkiej Brytanii, Francji i Polski. Uwarunkowania współczesnej islamofobii to temat trzeciego rozdziału pracy.

Islamophobia is a phenomenon that has become increasingly prominent in the lives of European societies in recent years. Fear of Islam is increasingly permeating public discourse in western countries. Master's thesis is to prove that there is Islamophobia in Europe in the 21st century. In order to demonstrate the correctness of the thesis, we should thoroughly analyze the various manifestations of Islamophobia, on the example of European countries, with particular emphasis on France, Great Britain and Poland. The first chapter of the paper will describe the Muslim religion and its genesis. Much of the first chapter will also deal with the notion of Islamophobia itself, its genesis, and the controversy over the notion of Islamophobia. In the second chapter of the paper will be analyzed the manifestations of modern Islamophobia in Europe and will also present examples of physical acts of aggression against Muslims on the example of three states: Great Britain, France and Poland. The conditions of contemporary Islamophobia are the subject of the third chapter.
