"Culture and development. Strefa Kultury in Katowice and its influence on the social and economic development between years 2005- 2015"

The dissertation "Culture and development. Strefa Kultury in Katowice and its influence on the social and economic development between years 2005- 2015"presents the interrelation between culture and economy. It presents how the influence of culture improves the image of the city, investment atractiveness and the quality of life of Katowice citizens. It also proves that culture is an economic leverage. The dissertation contains the description of how Katowice has changed between years 2005-2015 in the context of cultural investments, in particular the estabilishment of Strefa Kultury. The thesis begins with the expaination of the basic notions like culture and develelopment and its substance. In the alternate part there is a region characteristics, investment plans and its realisation. In the dissertation I used the survey data from documents "Strategia rozwoju miasta 2020", "Raport o stanie miasta 2007" and "Raport o stanie miasta 2013".

Praca przedstawia zależności między sferą kultury a gospodarką. Ukazuje wpływ kultury na poprawę wizerunku miasta, wzrost atrakcyjności inwestycyjnej i poprawę jakości życia mieszkańców Katowic, i udowadnia, że kultura stanowi dźwignię rozwoju miasta. Zawiera opis przemian Katowic w latach 2005-2015 ocenionych przez pryzmat inwestycji w sektor kultury, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Strefy Kultury. Praca rozpoczyna się wytłumaczeniem podstawowych pojęć takich jak kultura, rozwój i jego istota. W dalszej części znajduje się charakterystyka regionu, plany inwestycji i ich realizacja. W pracy opierałam się na danych pochodzących z dokumentu "Strategia Rozwoju miasta 2020" oraz "Raport o stanie miasta 2007" i "Raport o stanie miasta 2013".
