Sculpture from the church of St. Nicholas in Wysocice

The thesis is a summary of the current research on the sculpture of the church of St. Nicholas in Wysocice. It focuses on stone sculptures placed outside the church - the tympanum set in the portal and the stone statue of the Madonna and Child on the church's facade. The thesis consists of the state of research on the church foundation and its history, which are closely related to the analysis of sculptures, and the state of research concerning the tympanum and statue of the Madonna of Wysocice. The main research problems related to tympanum are the time of the foundation of tympanum, the identification of the figures presented in tympanum, iconography, iconographic influences, the environment from which the workshop comes from, and the location of the tympanum in situ.The main research problems associated with the Madonna and Child statue are the time of the fundation of the statue, the environment from which the workshop comes from, the iconographic influences and the location of the statue in situ.In the thesis was presented the analysis of the above problems and description of the sculptures.In the summary of the dissertation, a postulate to carry out conservation studies to clarify the origin of both sculptures and to identify changes in their structure and composition over the age.

Praca dyplomowa jest podsumowaniem dotychczasowych badań na temat rzeźby z kościoła św. Mikołaja w Wysocicach. Skupia się na kamiennych rzeźbach umieszczonych na zewnątrz kościoła tj. tympanonie umieszczonym w portalu oraz kamiennym posągu Madonny z Dzieciątkiem znajdujacym się na elewacji kościoła. Praca dyplomowa składa się ze stanu badań dotyczącego fundacji kościoła i jego historii, które sa ściśle związane z analizą rzeźb oraz stanu badań dotyczącego tympanonu i posągu Madonny z Wysocic. Głównymi problemami badawczymi związanymi z tympanonem jest określenie czasu powstania tympanonu, identyfikacja postaci przedstawionych w tympanonie, ikonografia, wpływy ikonograficzne, środowisko z którego pochodzi warsztat i umiejscowienie tympanonu in situ.Głównymi problemami badawczymi związanymi z posągiem Madonny z Dzieciątkiem jest określenie czasu powstania posągu, środowiska z którego pochodzi warsztat, wpływów ikonograficznych oraz umiejscowienie posągu in situ.W owej pracy została przedstawiona analiza powyższych problemów oraz opis rzeźb.W jej podsumowaniu pojawia się postulat o przeprowadzenie badań konserwatorskich mających na celu wyjasnienie pochodzenia obydwu rzeźb oraz określenie zmian powstałych w ich strukturze i kompozycji na przestrzeni wieku.
