The goal of this work is to correct the picture of english rhythm and blues of the first half of the 60’s through delivering formal analysis of recorded pieces of music. Certain authors, especially Allan Moore in his Rock: The Primary Text, claim that english r&b bands reproduced american recordings almost literally and british rock music changed suddenly in the second half of the decade. Thorough analysis verifies this view and reveal The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Animals and Manfred Mann taking a more creative attitude toward the inherited tradition.
Celem pracy jest uzupełnienie obrazu angielskiego rhythm and bluesa pierwszej połowy lat 60. o analizy formalne nagranych utworów muzycznych. Niektórzy autorzy (w szczególności Allan Moore w Rock: The Primary Text) twierdzą, że angielskie zespoły rhythmandbluesowe reprodukowały niemal w stu procentach amerykańskie nagrania, a brytyjska muzyka rockowa zmieniła się w sposób nagły w drugiej połowie dekady. Dokładne analizy weryfikują ten pogląd i pokazują twórcze podejście The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, The Animals i Manfreda Manna do przejętej tradycji.
