Synthetism in Polish painting. Ślewiński - Witkacy.

Praca ma na celu zbadanie obecności syntetyzmu w malarstwie polskim. Analizie poddane zostały teksty krytyczne z przełomu XIX i XX wieku świadczące o recepcji kierunku w Polsce. Rozważania dotyczą nie tylko odbioru nurtu, lecz także problemu nadawanej mu nazwy. Rozpatrzone zostały również refleksy syntetyzmu w twórczości Władysława Ślewińskiego i Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza.

The aim of the thesis is to examine the presence of synthetism in Polish painting. The research is based on the analysis of critical articles from the end of the 19th and the beginnig of the 20th century which concern the perception of the movement in Poland. The author considers not only the reception of the tendency, but also the problem of its name. Moreover, the thesis looks into the reflections of synthetism in the art of Władysław Ślewiński and Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz.
