Transnational networks of solidarity and resistance. Social Movements against 'Fortress Europe': from Europe to Ferguson and Palestine?

Europe is facing an increasing anti-migrant discourse which takes advantage of the situation on the continent after the so-called ‘long summer of migration’ of 2015. The reactions of some European countries have been to close their borders, following Islamophobic, antimigration or racist populist discourses that seem to address an important part of its population. Despite the efforts of many political groups to stop and denounce the advance of such antimigrant speeches and policies, the most forceful and creative responses/alternatives to it seem to come from civil society, targeting responsibilities while protesting in solidarity with those refugees and migrants. The aim of this Master thesis is to analyse these transnational forces of solidarity and resistance, understanding how -or if - migrant mobility contests traditional conceptions of citizenship and reflecting on the way these TSMOs construct their mobilising rhetoric around that topic. Can these TSMOs be understood as part of a transnational and co-ordinated (European) pro-refugee movement? Do they share common goals and demands with other struggles, as the Palestinian and the Movement for Black Lives, implying an intersectional struggle against racism, colonialism and oppression?

Europa mierzy się z rosnącym w siłę antyimigracyjnym dyskursem bazującym na obawach związanych z migracją uchodźców do Europy z 2015 roku. Niektóre kraje europejskie zamykały granicę dla uchodźców i wpisywały się w islamofobiczną, antyimigracyjną czy rasistowską narrację adresowaną do swoich obywateli. Poza wieloma ugrupowaniami politycznymi piętnującymi antyimigrancką retorykę i polityki rządów, innym silnym głosem kształtującym alternatywę wobec antyimigracyjnego dyskursu wydają się być ruchy społeczne solidaryzujące się z uchodźcami i migrantami. Celem pracy jest analiza ponadnarodowych sił solidarności i oporu, zrozumienie jak, albo czy mobilność migrantów kontestuje tradycyjne pojęcie obywatelstwa oraz czy wpływa na to jak kształtowana jest retoryka międzynarodowych sieci solidarności i oporu. Próba odpowiedzi na pytanie czy międzynarodowe sieci solidarności i oporu mogą być klasyfikowane jako część międzynarodowego i koordynowanego (europejskiego) ruchu prouchodźczego? Czy dzielą te same cele i żądania razem z innymi ruchami, takimi jak kampanie solidarnościowe z Palestyną i Movement for Black Lives zawierającymi wielowymiarową walkę przeciwko rasizmowi, kolonializmowi i opresji.
