Mythology in Twin Peaks tv series

Po ćwierćwieczu powstał trzeci sezon serialu "Twin Peaks", który tym razem dużo mocniej skupił się na kreowaniu mitologii miasteczka i kontaktach śmiertelników z demonami oraz duchami. Głównym wątkiem zaś uczynił ostateczne starcie między siłami dobra i siłami zła. Celem niniejszej pracy jest opis mitologii serialu w kontekście współczesnej teorii mitu, interpretacja wydarzeń, symboli i ról bohaterów oraz zdefiniowanie stosunku między mitologią, kwestią snu, pętlą czasu a wątkami społecznymi w serialu.

After a quarter of the century, David Lynch and Mark Frost created third season of "Twin Peaks" tv series. This time creators were mostly focused on topics connected to mythology and relation between mortals, demons and ghosts in their universe. The aim of this study is to describe mythology of "Twin Peaks" in context of modern myth theories. An analysis concerns mythical patterns, conventions, specific of myth, dream, time loop and social issues. In the first two seasons, writers and directors were more intrested in extraordinary problems of small community. The Return shows bigger story: final battle between symbols of ultimate good and ultimate evil.
