Fictitious religions in science fiction novels on the example of "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by P. K. Dick and "The Possibility of an Island" by M. Houellebecq.

This text is devoted to the phenomenon of fictional religions in science-fiction literature. There are two novels compared here: "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" written by P. K. Dick and M. Houellebecq's "The Possibility of an Island". The first part of the text is devoted to the cult called mercerism, consisting primarily of the ritual of emotional fusion with the founder of religion - Wilbur Mercer and other followers. The second analyzed movement is the Elohimit Church inspired by the actually existing raelian community. The author discusses the relationship between science and religion and the role of the religion in the degenerate world of the future.

Praca poświęcona jest zjawisku fikcyjnych religii w literaturze science-fiction. Zostały tutaj porównane dwie powieści: "Czy androidy marzą o elektrycznych owcach?" P.K. Dicka oraz "Możliwość wyspy" M. Houellebecqa. Pierwsza część tekstu poświęcona jest kultowi zwanemu merceryzmem, polegającemu przede wszystkim na rytuale emocjonalnego zespolenia z założycielem religii - Wilburem Mercerem oraz innym wyznawcami. Analizie poddany zostaje także ruch religijny występujący w drugiej powieści - Kościół Elohimitów, który inspirowany jest faktycznie istniejącą wspólnotą raelian. Autorka przygląda się zależnościom zachodzącym między nauką a religią oraz roli, jaką ta ostatnia może odegrać w zdegenerowanym świecie przyszłości.
