Motyw pracy w powieści "Huśtawka oddechu" Herty Müller

Im letzten Jahr des Zweiten Weltkriegs ließen die Russen alle in Rumänien lebenden Deutschen zwischen 17 und 45 Jahren in ein Arbeitslager abtransportieren, damit sie das zerstörte Land wiederaufbauen. Das sollte eine Wiedergutmachung für die von der rumänischen Armee in der Sowjetunion angerichteten Schäden bilden. Der Protagonist im Roman „Atemschaukel“, der 17-jährige Leopold Auberg, landete in einem der sowjetischen Gefangenenlager Nowo-Gorlowka in der Sowjet-Ukraine. Von diesem Zeitpunkt an lernte er fünf Jahre lang den Begriff der mörderisch schweren Arbeit kennen. Die Arbeit, die seine Tage erfüllte, wurde zum Alptraum, sie war sein Leiden, aber es war auch die einzige Möglichkeit, um an den Hunger im Lager, der ein unerbittlicher Todesbote war, nicht zu denken.

The main topic of my BA dissertation is “the meaning of forced labour in concentration camp in novel “The Hunger Angel ” written by Herta Müller”. In my BA dissertation I was trying to describe working conditions in concentration camp in Novogorlovka in Soviet Union. The main character of this novel is Leopold Auber, seventeen-year-old boy. During the last year of the second world war, all people from Germany who were living in Rumania at that time were sent to concentration camps. They should rebuilt the damages that were made by German warriors in Russia. Young Leopold was one of them. At first he was not aware of the danger and the tragedy, he and other prisoners had to face up to during their stay in camp but soon he realized his terrible condition. He had experience great hunger and forced labour that overtaxed his strength. The prisoners were working the entire days and they were given only one slice of bread each day. They had no other choice but to live in such inhuman conditions day after day for five years. My BA theses consists of three main chapters and each chapter has its own three subsections.

Nasz bohater siedemnastoletni wówczas Leopold Aubergtrafił do jednego z takich obozów. Od tamtej pory przez kolejne pięć lat poznał smak pracy. Pracy, która wypełniała jego dni, stawała się jego koszmarem, cierpieniem, ale czasami pomagała na chwilę zapomnieć o straszliwym i natrętnym głodzie, który był nieubłaganym wysłannikiem śmierci.
