The structure and linguistic devices in football live text commentary. A contrastive study of Polish and German texts

The aim of this thesis is to examine the characteristic features and linguistic devices used in football live text commentary (LTC). The first part of this work is devoted to the explanation of relevant terms and ideas which appear in the text, such as text type, multimodality or terminology associated with commenting. This part also deals with the description of the main features of spoken language, which are later used for the analysis. The second chapter focuses on the analysis of the main features of structure of live text commentary. The object of my research are three Polish and three German texts of LTC. The third chapter presents the analysis of linguistic devices used in them. This part contains an attempt to state whether oral features can also be found in written texts. The purpose of the thesis is also to examine if the Polish and German texts differ from each other. The last part includes the results as well as conclusions which follow from the analysis.

Tematem niniejszej pracy magisterskiej są pisemne relacje na żywo z meczów piłki nożnej. Praca składa się z dwóch części. W pierwszej z nich omówione zostają pojęcia istotne dla pracy, takie jak gatunek tekstu, multimodalność, a także terminologia związana z komentarzem sportowym. Na podstawie dotychczasowych badań poświęconych pisemnym relacjom na żywo w tej części zostają one szczegółowo omówione. Druga część pracy poświęcona jest analizie, której głównym celem jest zbadanie gatunku jakim są pisemne internetowe relacje na żywo, a także wskazanie cech charakterystycznych w ich strukturze oraz środkach językowych. Przedmiotem badań są trzy niemieckie oraz trzy polskie relacje z meczów piłki nożnej. Teksty relacji zostają poddane analizie na podstawie cech gatunkowych telewizyjnych relacji na żywo, a więc zostają zbadane pod względem występowania środków językowych charakterystycznych dla relacji mówionych. W ramach analizy teksty z niemieckich i polskich stron internetowych zostają ze sobą porównane w celu wskazania podobieństw i różnic.

Der Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit sind Fußball Live-Ticker. Das erste Kapitel dient einer näheren Betrachtung der Begriffe, die für die folgende Arbeit relevant sind, wie Textsorte, Multimodalität und Terminologie, die mit dem Kommentieren verbunden ist. Es soll darin auch gezeigt werden, welche Eigenschaften für einen mündlichen Fußballbericht charakteristisch sind. Das zweite Kapitel enthält eine Analyse der Struktur des Textes und der Informationen in den Live-Tickern. Als Untersuchungsgegenstand für die folgende Arbeit wurden drei deutsche und drei polnische Fußball Live-Ticker gewählt. Das Interesse des dritten Kapitels richtet sich auf die Analyse der von den Kommentatoren verwendeten Sprachmittel. In diesem Kapitel ist auch die Frage zu beantworten, ob die Elemente der gesprochenen Sprache in den Live-Tickern vorkommen. Das Anliegen der Arbeit ist es auch, zu untersuchen, ob sich die deutschen und die polnischen Live-Berichte angesichts der Gestaltung und der darin verwendeten Sprachmittel voneinander unterscheiden. Der letzte Teil der Arbeit enthält die Ergebnisse und Schlussfolgerungen aus der Analyse.
