Grzech, kara i wiara. Refleksja etyczno-religijna w myśli Lwa Szestowa

The author tries to find the answer to the question: is there any chance to find similarities in the reflection on evil by philosophers as different from each other as Lev Shestov and Paul Ricoeur, in terms of methods of reasoning, philosophical temperament, as well as aspects of evil distinguished by both of them in the world. The method used to compare both thinkers consists of emphasizing three major notions, essential from the point of view of the Christian religion and its' reflection on evil, that is the notions of sin, punishment and faith. Examining the manifestations of these three ideas throughout the works of Shestov and Ricoeur, the author arrives at the conclusion, that the approach of both authors is significantly different, but those are not extreme differences and they both complement each other, creating an overall picture of the human experience of evil.

Autor usiłuje znaleźć odpowiedź na pytanie, czy jest szansa na odnalezienie punktów wspólnych w refleksji nad złem filozofów tak od siebie różnych, zarówno w metodach rozumowania, filozoficznym temperamencie, jak i w zauważanych przez nich w świecie aspektach zła, jak Lew Szestow i Paul Ricoeur. Metoda zastosowana do porównania obu myślicieli opiera się na zaakcentowaniu trzech pojęć, istotnych z punktu widzenia religii chrześcijańskiej i jej refleksji nad złem, tj. pojęcia grzechu, kary i wiary. Badając przejawianie się tych trzech pojęć w pracach Szestowa i Ricoeura, autor dochodzi do wniosku, że podejścia obu autorów, co prawda, różnią się znacząco, ale nie są to różnice biegunowe, a dopełniają się wzajemnie, tworząc całościowy obraz ludzkiego doświadczenia zła.
