A Fandom of Our Own. Characteristics of Femslash Fanfiction

Despite the creativity of femslash fandom, often referred to as "queer female fandom", there is still a large disproportion between femslash and slash. Fanfiction regarding relationships between women is less popular than the one describing men, both in terms of the number of stories and in academic papers. The aim of this work is to find the reasons that led to this state of affairs. At the same time, it is a response to the neglect of femslash in the scientific discourse, making a small introduction to the subject for Polish readers.

Pomimo kreatywności fandomu femslashowego, określanego też często jako „fandom kobiet queer”, wciąż istnieje duża dysproporcja między femslashem a slashem. Fanfiction dotyczące związków między kobietami cieszy się mniejszą popularnością od tego opisującego postacie męskie, zarówno pod względem ilości opowiadań, jak i na gruncie akademickim. Celem niniejszej pracy jest znalezienie przyczyn, które doprowadziły do tego stanu rzeczy. Jednocześnie stanowi ona odpowiedź na zaniedbanie femslashu w dyskursie naukowym, czyniąc niewielkie wprowadzenie do tematu dla polskich czytelników.
